AMSTERDAM – Promotion fighters Reading are crossing fingers that midfielder Daniel Williams can beat a swollen knee that kept him out of Tuesday night's 3-1 defeat at Bournemouth.
The Championship side are in wait-and-see mode with the US midfielder, who missed time with knee woes both last fall and last month. It remains unclear whether Williams will be able to make the selection for Monday's visit from league leaders Leicester City.
"The manager didn't give too many details away," Royals press officer Craig Mortimer-Zhika told MLSsoccer.com. "There's fluid on the knee, so he’s being monitored."
The 25-year-old World Cup hopeful has enjoyed a solid season for sixth-place Reading, who have five games remaining to hold off five close chasers for the last promotion playoff berth.
Williams had found another gear since February, bagging three goals in the last seven games.
