AMSTERDAM – Nantes attacker Alejandro Bedoya remains in the sick bay, with the club not expecting him back in action for at least a few weeks.
The US international has not appeared for club or country since going the distance in a win at Lille on Sept. 29, after which he missed the US's CONCACAF Cup loss to Mexico and the following friendly early this month due to an illness. Unfortunately, the illness has only gotten worse, and Bedoya has now missed three Canaries matches in total heading into Sunday's Ligue 1 visit from Marseille.
"Alejandro has kind of a flu, he is weak," Canaries press spokesman Franck Kita told MLSsoccer.com. "He didn't come to practice this week."
Kita also passed on a summary of the situation from the club's medical staff.
"When he came back from national team, he ran two or three times," explained the doctor's note. "Then, he caught a cold. We made some examinations to understand what he got exactly.
"We are a bit worried. It is impossible for him to be be in the group for the next three matches."
Bedoya has yet to open his season account in seven appearances. With three straight league wins, Nantes have recently risen to 10th place in the French top flight.
