Columbus Crew SC winger Justin Meram not only suited up for Iraq against Syria on Wednesday, he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory in Basra, Iraq.
Meram scored a trademark curler with his right foot, although replays show a deflection helped the bend on the finish.
Meram is one of the veterans of the current Iraq squad, as they are hosting a friendly tournament, the International Friendship Championship, against Syria and Jordan. The Lions of Mesopotamia will take on Jordan on Tuesday, also in Basra.
