Mihailovic Rocking for Rapids
Colorado Rapids midfielder Djordje Mihailovic has made a significant impact in his first season with the club and is riding a recent wave of tremendous play that has helped the Rapids (31 points, 9-7-4) rocket up to fourth place in the Western Conference table. Mihailovic has six goal contributions, including four goals and two assists, across Colorado’s last two victories and has tied his MLS career-best with nine goals through just 19 games this season.
The 25-year-old standout has nine goals and eight assists this season and sits on the verge of club history, as he can join Mark Chung (11 goals, 10 assists in 2002) as the only players in club history to record at least 10 goals and 10 assists in a single season. Mihailovic will look to join the exclusive Rapids club with another strong performance at LAFC on Saturday night (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).

LAFC’s Bogusz Breaking Out
Last week, LAFC (37 points 11-4-4) returned to a common position in the seven-year history of the club – atop the Western Conference standings. Powering their recent surge has been the breakout of Polish international Mateusz Bogusz, who has nine goals and five assists in 19 matches this season. Bogusz has recorded at least one goal contribution in every match of the club’s eight-game unbeaten streak, including two goals and an assist in the club’s 6-2 victory over San Jose on Matchday 22.
With a contribution against the Rapids on Saturday night (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV), Bogusz would tie FC Cincinnati midfielder and reigning Landon Donovan MLS MVP Luciano Acosta (nine games) for the longest goal contribution streak by a player in 2024. Acosta tallied nine straight games with a contribution from April 6 through May 25 earlier this season.

Gil Helping His Way to History
The New England Revolution have won four consecutive matches and reemerged as a threat in the Eastern Conference. Behind that resurgence has been a familiar face in 2021 Landon Donovan MLS MVP Carles Gil, who has tallied five assists and a goal during the current win streak. The epitome of consistency, Gil has five goals and six assists this season and sits just four helpers away from his fifth career season with 10-or-more assists.
With an assist against the Columbus Crew on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV), the Spaniard, who has 69 assists in 150 career matches, would become the fourth-fastest player to reach 70 career assists in MLS history. Only former MLS MVPs Carlos Valderama (101 games), Marco Etcheverry (104 games), and Preki (148) have reached the milestone in fewer than 150 career games.

Streaking Cuypers Looks to Stay on Fire
The Chicago Fire have picked up eight points across their last five matches (2-1-2), scoring 10 goals over the span. Powering the offense has been newcomer Hugo Cuypers, who has scored in four consecutive matches for the Fire and leads the club with seven goals this season.
With a score against Seattle Sounders FC in the tough road environment of Lumen Field (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV), Cuypers would become the third player in Fire history to score in five consecutive matches, joining David Accam (five in 2017) and Robert Beric (five in 2020).

Trio of Timbers Producing in Portland
Unbeaten across their last six matches (4-0-2), the Portland Timbers continue to hone their offensive identity and are receiving production up and down their lineup – including tremendous efforts from Evander (eight goals, 10 assists), Jonathan RodrĂguez (eight goals, four assists), and Felipe Mora (nine goals, three assists).
If this trio of Timbers reaches 10 goals each, they would become just the third trio of players in the past five seasons to score at least 10 goals each in a single season and the first since the 2022 FC Cincinnati (Acosta, Brenner, Vázquez) and Philadelphia Union (Gazdag, Carranza, Uhre) squads. The Timbers will look to this trifecta to help extend their unbeaten run to seven matches as they welcome Minnesota United FC to Providence Park on Saturday night (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
