Rivalry Win Standing in Way of More St. Louis History
After a home victory against FC Dallas on Wednesday, St. Louis CITY SC sits one win shy of tying LAFC (16 in 2018) for the most wins by an expansion club in MLS history (excluding the shootout era). St. Louis’ balanced scoring attack continued against Dallas as substitutes Anthony Markanich and Nökkvi Thórisson recorded their first goals of the season in the victory. In their inaugural year, the club leads MLS with 15 different goal scorers and sits three players off the MLS record of 18.
To reach LAFC’s 16 victories, St. Louis will need to win in their first-ever match at Children’s Mercy Park against rivals Sporting Kansas City (8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass). When the two sides met for the first time earlier this year at CITYPARK, St. Louis got off to a flying start and thrashed Kansas City, 4-0, behind a brace from Indiana Vassilev. With Kansas City coming off a win last Sunday, history will be no easy feat for the visitors.

Revolution Nearing Record Run at Gillette Stadium
Sporting an unbeaten 10-0-3 record at home in 2023, the New England Revolution have used their home success at Gillette Stadium to rise up the Eastern Conference standings. Wednesday’s victory against the New York Red Bulls was no different, as solid defending and goalkeeping helped solidify a 1-0 victory. On Saturday, the Revs host Austin FC (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass) as they look to match their longest home winning streak in club history, which was seven games set from 2004-05.
One of the key providers in the streak has been forward Giacomo Vrioni, who scored the game-winning goal against the Red Bulls. With a goal against Austin, Vrioni would join Juan Agudelo (2016) as the only Revs players since 2010 to score in four consecutive home regular-season matches in a single season. With Vrioni in good form, New England has lucky win number seven in their sights this weekend.

Emanuel Reynoso Hitting Late-Summer Stride
Coming off a Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire performance for Matchday 29, Minnesota United FC’s Emanuel Reynoso is finishing up another one of his patented summer surges. In 2022, Reynoso went on a tear before September, producing seven goals and three assists over the summer months. The 2023 season has been no different – totaling six goals and one assist, including a brace in Wednesday’s victory against the Colorado Rapids.
After his performance in the win, Reynoso tied Robin Lod (22) for the most regular season goals in club history. The dynamic Argentine will look to eclipse Lod on Saturday evening when the Loons travel to face the San Jose Earthquakes (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass), who Reynoso has never scored against in four career appearances.
