Defenders
Graham Zusi has yet to have a breakout game this season, but considering he stands over the majority of Sporting Kansas City’s set pieces, he offers arguably the most attacking upside of any defender this week. A home game against a San Jose team that shipped a pair of goals to Minnesota in their opener could be just what Zusi needs to get going on Saturday (8:30 pm ET; TV & streaming info).

It’s back to the well with Miguel Almiron against Vancouver on Saturday (7:30 pm ET; TSN2 — full TV & streaming info), who did not disappoint last week with a 12-point haul through a goal and an assist. Joao Plata has a goal in back-to-back games to start the season, and while he has a tougher matchup than others I think he keeps it going at home against a potentially CCL-hungover New York Red Bulls on Saturday (9 pm ET; TV & streaming info).

Forwards
All of the top five forwards — outside of Sebastian Giovinco — opened their 2018 goal scoring account in Week 2 and they’re back on the radar with exploitable matchups in Week 3. Giovinco took some knocks against Tigres in CCL action on Tuesday, but he delivered a scintillating free kick and looks to have finished the match unscathed.
