He has yet to make his MLS debut, but new FC Dallas goalkeeper Phelipe is keeping some pretty good company on the international stage.
Phelipe was called into the latest Brazilian U-23 squad for friendlies in preparation for the Olympics, which Brazil already qualified for. The 2020 Olympics were postponed to the summer of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Brazil squad features the likes of Real Madrid's Rodrygo, Lyon's Lucas Paqueta and a number of other top rising talents.
Phelipe, 21, joined FC Dallas on loan from Gremio in August. The deal comes with a purchase option. He made two league starts with Gremio in 2019.
He has yet to make his senior team debut for the Brazilian national team but was on the bench for international friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Argentina in 2018 and Qatar on June 5, 2019. He represented Brazil in the 2017 Toulon Tournament and started in goal for Brazil’s U-20 National Team in the 2019 South American U-20 Championship.
