He's the hottest soccer coach on this side of the world -- or maybe in the whole world. And Mexico boss Juan Carlos Osorio, whose team squares off against Chile in the Copa America Centenario quarterfinals Saturday night in Levi's Stadium, got his coaching start in a humble setting in Staten Island.

The New York Times recently profiled Osorio, a Colombian who attended college in the United States and got a crucial break in his career coaching in MLS, and who has guided El Tri to the longest current unbeaten streak in the world. Mexico have not lost in their past 22 games, and Osorio has guided them to nine wins in his 10 games at the helm.

Even those MLS fans who remember Osorio's stints in MLS probably don't know the full story of unorthodox route he took to one of the most prestigious -- and pressure-packed -- coaching jobs on the planet, from New York to England to South America and now to Mexico. Be sure to check out the full profile in The New York Times.
