The LA Galaxy will gear up for the 2019 MLS regular season by hosting Toronto FC at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday night. TFC are aiming to find fitness, quickly, with Concacaf Champions League play fast approaching.
LA Galaxy
The Galaxy have been ramping up preseason preparation relatively quietly, although local talk has been of how performance coach Javier Valdecantos, renowned in Argentina for his ability to train players, has been putting the Galaxy through their paces to get ready for the campaign ahead.
But head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto has stressed how the team remains a work in progress in preseason.
"We're working really well [this preseason]," he told the club's website. "Everyone knows what they have to do in the field. This is not going to be quick, so you need to work every week and every game to get better."
Toronto FC
TFC have been one of the busiest teams in MLS so far, little surprise considering their CCL opener is fast approaching.
They have been playing many matches while based in Southern California for preseason, at times playing multiple games in a day or games on consecutive days. One question entering the season is what new forward Terrence Boyd will do and how quickly he'll enter the lineup for TFC.
