Game Notes:
- MLS is now 9-6-5 vs. international competition in the MLS All-Star Game. This was the third time facing the LIGA MX All-Stars, and the first since 2022. MLS had won the previous two matchups in 2022 (2-1) and in 2021 (1-1, 3-2 win on penalty kicks).
- FC Cincinnati midfielder Luciano Acosta and St. Louis CITY SC goalkeeper Roman Bürki were the only players to start each of the last two All-Star Games.
- The MLS All-Stars had eight different nationalities represented in their starting lineup – Argentina (Luciano Acosta), Brazil (Evander, Thiago Martins), Colombia (Cucho Hernández), Mexico (Héctor Herrera), Spain (Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets), Switzerland (Roman Bürki), the United States (Justen Glad, Keegan Rosenberry), and Uruguay (Diego Rossi).
- The Columbus Crew duo of Cucho Hernández and Diego Rossi became the second pair of teammates to score and provide the assist on a goal in an MLS All-Star Game in front of their home fans since 2010 (LAFC in 2021, Jesús Murillo and Eduard Atuesta).
- In the last 12 months, Hernández has now scored goals in the MLS regular season, Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, 2023 MLS Cup presented by Audi, Concacaf Champions Cup, Leagues Cup, and MLS All-Star Game presented by Target.
- With an assist on the first goal by the MLS All-Stars, Inter Miami CF’s Sergio Busquets became the first player in club history to provide a goal or an assist in an All-Star Game.
- Overall, the MLS All-Stars were led by Diego Rossi, who provided the assist on Cucho Hernández’s goal and had the most key passes by any player in the match with four.
- The LIGA MX All-Stars scored multiple goals for the first time in a match against the MLS All-Stars. Oussama Idrissi (Pachuca) became the first Moroccan player to score against the MLS All-Stars. Idrissi is the second-straight Pachuca player to score in an MLS All-Star Game, joining Kevin Álvarez in 2022.
- Tigres UANL forward Juan Brunetta was named the 2024 MLS All-Star Game MVP after scoring the third goal of the match in the second half. Brunetta is the first Argentinian to earn the game’s MVP honor and the first to score in the game since Christian Gómez in 2008 for the MLS All-Stars.
- In net, Fernando Tapia (Tigres UANL) was the only goalkeeper in the match to make three saves, doing so down the stretch to preserve the LIGA MX All-Star victory.
- The match attracted a sellout crowd and an Lower.com Field-record of 20,931.
