MLS Fantasy returns ahead of an exciting 2019 season

MLS Fantasy is back for 2019, giving you more reason to get excited for the 2019 season.

Sign up now to compete against your friends and family, as you will have two chances to earn bragging rights again in 2019. The MLS season will be split into two, with the Gold Cup acting as a natural break between the Spring and Fall seasons.

  • Spring season: March 2-June 8
  • Fall season: June 22-October 6

Sound enticing? The initial setup only takes a few minutes -- letā€™s quickly walk through the process for setting up an MLS Fantasy team.

Setting Up Your Team

To set up a team, head to our new-look site at fantasy.mlssoccer.com and hit the Play Now button to get started.

Once youā€™ve done that, youā€™ll be taken to the initial team set-up page. Your task: construct a 15-man roster using your allotted $100 million in salary.

You can shift your formation, if you wish -- anything from a defense-minded 5-4-1 to an attack-heavy 4-3-3 is allowed. To make substitutions or change your formation, simply click the red/green circle and make your change. Once youā€™ve settled on your players, select a captain and click Save Team to lock it in.

Congrats! Your squad is ready for Week 1!

Joining A League

Now that youā€™ve got your squad, itā€™s time to join a league. Upon signing up, youā€™ll be automatically entered into two public leagues: the overall competition and a team-specific public league.

In addition to these starter leagues, you can create five private leagues and join unlimited public and private leagues. Private leagues offer a message board functionality so you can talk smack amongst your fellow league members.

Rolling Lockout

Experienced fantasy managers can relate to this feeling: you set your roster and spend big on a star player like Josef Martinez, only to find out 45 minutes before kick-off that heā€™s no longer in the 18. All of the sudden, youā€™re stuck with a zero.

Frustrating, right?

Well you still have a chance to make rolling transfers up until that playerā€™s game kicks off. So if you find out Josefā€™s not ready for that Sunday night kickoff, you can hop into the game and swap him for Hector Villalba.

In addition to rolling transfers, players can also be substituted from your existing roster up until each playerā€™s respective kickoff. Taken together, these gives an unprecedented level of control to fantasy managers.

Changes for 2019

  • Managers may only select three players per team instead of four
  • Improved player pricing model to better react to playerā€™s most recent performance
  • Improved visual representation for players with double-game weeks
  • Improved search functionality
  • Dynamic share: Managers are now able to share an image of their current roster on their preferred social media channel
  • Managers are now able to navigate within the game while editing their roster while using the MLS app

Prize Information

The winner of each season will earn $1,500. Winners of the supportersā€™ leagues in both the spring and fall seasons will receive a $50 gift card.
