In the buildup to Earth Day, MLS WORKS held its second annual Week of Service.
Throughout the week (April 17 - 22), MLS players, employees and supporters partnered with charitable organizations in their communities to volunteer their time and give back through eco-friendly initiatives. Learn more about Greener Goals
Atlanta United FC
Staff, supporters and players executed various eco-friendly projects at local schools.
- Mays High School students teamed up with Atlanta United FC to paint a mural that highlights eco-friendly practices.
- Players and staff joined students at Oakhurst Elementary to execute a school garden beautification project.
- Spring plantings and compost hauling at Springdale Park Elementary.
Chicago Fire
Fire staff members and players engaged in some park clean-up and beautification activities at Douglas Park.
Colorado Rapids
Rapids staff members visited the VOA mission to execute landscaping improvements and flower potting for senior citizen residents as well as various clean-up projects in the surrounding downtown Denver neighborhood.
Columbus Crew SC
Crew SC teamed up with Local Matters to construct a community garden.
D.C. United
United staff members and season ticket holders joined Washington Parks & People staff to execute gardening activities, construct benches, and clean up trails to improve visibility for visitors in Oxon Run Park.
Houston Dynamo
Staff members cleaned Buffalo Bayou Park and planted flowers in the park's multiple gardens. Additionally, Dynamo staff presented 3rd graders at the Rusk School with a space garden and educated them on the ways that space tested technology can improve the way that healthy food is grown. The Galaxy visited Griffith Park to rehabilitate existing trees as well as plant new ones. Video Recap
Minnesota United FC & MLS National Sales Center
National Sales Center members and Minnesota United FC staff, players and supporters teamed up to clean and beautify Afton State Park.
MLS League Office
MLS employees worked with New York City Partnership for Parks to clean and green Brooklyn’s Sunset Park.

New York City FC
NYCFC staff host a “Get Green” recycling event in South Bronx which includes the collection of used clothing and electronics that will be re-purposed for a local arts and science showcase. Check out the Recap
New York Red Bulls
Red Bulls staff visited a local elementary school and conducted a recycling workshop, performed landscaping on the campus grounds, painted eco-friendly canvas murals and constructed a garden for the school to maintain and educate students on healthy eating habits.
Orlando City SC
The club's Head Groundskeeper lead an informative presentation with youth participants from the John H. Jackson Community Center Construction entitled - "How Does Grass Grow?" Children sat field-side for the duration of the presentation before taking part in a ‘hands-on’ activity.
Philadelphia Union
Union staff members beautified the grounds surrounding Talen Energy Stadium including parking lots, plaza and river walk.
Portland Timbers
Timbers staff joined Timber Joey and supporters to restore the Forest Park Trail in Southwest Portland, and club staff and players made sensory items to be used in Providence Park and donated to The Shadow Project organization dedicated to helping children with learning disabilities gain access to learning tools.
Real Salt Lake
Staff and players cleaned the grounds at Marshall White Community Center and announced the development of two futsal courts for members of the center.
San Jose Earthquakes
Earthquakes staff joined students at Sinnott Elementary School to execute a tree planting project.
Seattle Sounders
Volunteers worked with Sylvester Middle School and Washington Green Schools to build rain gardens, plant flowers on campus and paint a campus mural.
Sporting KC
Sporting Kansas City along with one of their partners, Spring Venture Group, removed invasive honeysuckle in Swope Park. Swope Park is the the largest park in Kansas City and is home to the team training facility. The group of nearly 150 volunteers completed their project on Friday.
Toronto FC
TFC players and staff executed beautification and gardening projects on the Sick Kids Hospital campus.
Vancouver Whitecaps
Whitecaps staff, players and academy members teamed up to work on a park clean-up project and host a community clinic following the service event.
