Below is a selection of the notable performances and moments from the 15 matches played on the ninth matchday of the 2025 MLS regular season on Saturday, April 19.

Highlights of the matchday included:

  • For the first time in league history, 15 regular season matches were played on the same day, featuring all 30 MLS clubs.
  • Inter Miami CF emerged victorious against the Columbus Crew in the battle of unbeatens, which was played in front of 60,614 fans at Huntington Bank Field, the home of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. The game shattered the Crew’s single-game home attendance record and was the largest, non-football crowd in the history of the stadium.
  • Five players recorded multi-goal games on Matchday 9: Cincinnati’s Evander (two), D.C. United’s JoĂŁo Peglow (two), Portland’s Felipe Mora (two), San Jose’s Chicho Arango (two), and Kansas City’s Daniel SallĂłi (two).
  • With his assist on the club's second goal, New England Revolution midfielder Carles Gil recorded his 74th assist with the club, surpassing Steve Ralston (73) for the most career assists in Revs history.
  • With a pair of assists in a 3-0 victory, Seattle Sounders FC forward JesĂşs Ferreira (24 years, 116 days) became the second-youngest player in MLS history to reach 90 goal contributions, behind only Diego FagĂşndez (23 years, 241 days).
  • Thirteen clean sheets were recorded across the league, the most on a single day in MLS history, surpassing the previous record of 12 set on April 1, 2023.
  • With a 5-3 victory over San Jose, Sporting Kansas City scored at least five goals in a game for the first time since March 30, 2019 and have won two of their last three matches.
  • Behind the first MLS goal from 22-year-old forward Theo Corbeanu, Toronto FC picked up their first win of the 2025 season via a 1-0 result at Real Salt Lake.

60,000+ Watch Inter Miami CF Emerge Victorious in Battle of Unbeatens

In a showdown of the two final unbeaten MLS teams in 2025, Inter Miami CF (18 points, 5-0-3) emerged victorious over the Columbus Crew, 1-0, in front of 60,614 fans at Huntington Bank Field, home of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. Saturday afternoon marked the highest-attended home match in Crew history across all competitions and was the highest-attended non-football event at Huntington Bank Field since the stadium opened in 1999 – surpassing the previous mark of 57,791 for WWE SummerSlam (Aug. 3, 2024).

In a game filled with chances, Miami’s Benjamin Cremaschi scored the lone goal of the match in the 30th minute, connecting on the end of a sensational cross from Marcelo Weigandt and finishing with a diving header (Watch Here). Miami held off countless Crew attacks to secure the win and a place as the league’s last remaining unbeaten team.

Saturday’s match marked the second consecutive week that an MLS game eclipsed 60,000 fans in attendance, joining last week’s Chicago Fire FC vs. Inter Miami CF match at Soldier Field (62,358), also a Fire club record. This was the third MLS match in 2025 to feature more than 60,000 fans in attendance, with Atlanta United’s season opener against CF Montréal also reaching the mark (65,520 on Feb. 22, 2025).

Inter Miami will look to keep their unbeaten streak alive next Sunday, April 27 as they welcome FC Dallas to Chase Stadium (5 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV). Midweek, Miami will travel to Vancouver on Wednesday to face the Whitecaps in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinals (10:30 p.m. ET, FOX / TUDN / UniMás / Vix).

Charlotte Defends Queen City, Climbs Atop Eastern Conference Standings

Charlotte FC made its home presence felt once again on Saturday, as the club knocked off first-time visitors San Diego FC, 3-0, at Bank of America Stadium. The Queen City side received goals from Liel Abada (11’, Watch Here), Patrick Agyemang (PK 45’, Watch Here), and Andrew Privett (57’, Watch Here).

Saturday’s win moved Charlotte (19 points, 6-2-1) into pole position in the Eastern Conference and second in the Supporters’ Shield standings, behind only Vancouver Whitecaps FC (20 points, 6-1-2). With the win, Charlotte extended their home winning streak to eight matches dating back to Sept. 21, 2024, and became the first team since 2023 FC Cincinnati to win each of their first five home matches of a season. Cincinnati would go on to win their first 10 home matches of that season en route to capturing the Supporters’ Shield.

Abada’s goal was the sixth game-winner of his career and the second-most in Charlotte FC history, trailing only Karol Swiderski’s nine game-winning goals. For Agyemang, his score marked the first penalty-kick goal of his MLS career and came on his first attempt from the spot.

Next up for Charlotte is another home bout, as they host the New England Revolution on Saturday, April 26 (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / Apple TV+).

Ferreira, Sounders Strike Big in Seattle

With three goals in the first 34 minutes, Seattle Sounders FC knocked off Nashville SC for their first victory over the club in MLS play, securing a 3-0 home victory. With the win, the Sounders extend their home unbeaten streak to eight matches extending back to Sept. 15, 2024, and the club has picked up consecutive wins for the first time this season.

With a pair of assists in win, forward JesĂşs Ferreira recorded the 90th and 91st goal contributions of his MLS career. At 24 years, 116 days old on Saturday, Ferreira became the second-youngest player in MLS history to reach 90 goal contributions, behind only Diego FagĂşndez (23 years, 241 days), and reached the milestone in three fewer days than MLS MVP namesake Landon Donovan (24 years, 119 days).

Ferreira was supported on the offensive front by Danny Musovski, Pedro de la Vega, and Paul Rothrock, who each scored in the winning effort. The Argentine midfielder de la Vega recorded his first career multi-contribution game, notching a sensational goal (Watch Here) and an assist in a four-minute span.

The Sounders will travel to face the Colorado Rapids next Saturday, April 26 at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park (9:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / Apple TV+).

Evander Lifts Cincinnati to 3-2 Win Over Chicago

FC Cincinnati midfielder Evander continued to build on his early-season case for the Landon Donovan MLS MVP award with a pair of goals in the club’s 3-2 road victory over Chicago Fire FC on Saturday night. Cincinnati (19 points, 6-2-1) has won four consecutive matches and are unbeaten across their last five, climbing to second place in the Eastern Conference standings.

With his brace, Evander, who sits in a tie for second in the race for the Golden Boot presented by Audi, reached 30 career goals in his 62nd MLS match. The Brazilian midfielder became the fourth-fastest player in MLS history to reach 30 career goals and 25 career assists, trailing only Carlos Vela (47 games), Sebastian Giovinco (53 games), and Preki (59 games) – all of whom have taken home the MLS MVP award.

Since the start of the 2024 season, only two players have eclipsed 40 goal contributions – Evander (41 combined goals and assists) and Inter Miami CF’s Lionel Messi (41).

Cincinnati will look to keep their winning streak alive as they return home to host Sporting Kansas City next Saturday, April 26, at TQL Stadium (2:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).

Quinn Sullivan Matches Club Record in 3-0 Union Victory

The Philadelphia Union provided their home fans something to cheer about in a 3-0 victory over Atlanta United – a win that featured three different goal scorers, including Quinn Sullivan, Tai Baribo, and the first MLS goal from Danley Jean Jacques. The Union improved to 16 points (5-3-1) on the season and currently sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference table.

Sullivan opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a stunning finish (Watch Here) and added an assist on Baribo’s goal in the 84th minute (Watch Here). With his two contributions, Sullivan (29 goal contributions) tied Jack McInerney for the most goal contributions in Union history by a player prior to turning 22 years old.

Baribo’s goal was his league-leading seventh of the season, as he holds onto a one-goal lead in the race for the Golden Boot presented by Audi. The Israeli international has scored 16 goals across his last 24 matches in MLS play, with Saturday’s goal his first coming off the bench over that span.

The Union will return to Subaru Park next Saturday, as they welcome D.C. United to town (4:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / Apple TV+).
