Concacaf announced on Tuesday that Exploria Stadium in Orlando — home of Orlando City SC and the NWSL's Orlando Pride — will host the final matches of the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.
The 2020 edition of the tournament is scheduled to resume with centralized quarterfinals, semifinals and a final to be played in Orlando from December 15-22.
“The Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League is our flagship club competition and a huge amount of work has gone into ensuring we can safely resume the tournament, and crown a regional club champion in 2020,” Concacaf President and FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani said in a statement. “Orlando’s Exploria Stadium will provide a great host venue for the final seven matches of this competition. I want to thank the team at the stadium for being so supportive in working with Concacaf to plan for what will be a great finale to the 2020 SCCL for the clubs and their fans across the region."
Concacaf has made the decision that these final rounds will be played behind closed doors. Broadcast information has yet to be determined, but discussions are ongoing with Concacaf's broadcast partners to ensure the matches will be accessible.
Four MLS teams are still alive in the competition, with Atlanta United, the Montreal Impact, LAFC and New York City FC in the midst of their quarterfinals matchups when the competition was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Atlanta have the biggest hill to climb, as the Five Stripes trail Liga MX giants Club America 3-0 after the first leg. Montreal trail Honduran side Club Olimpia 2-1 and NYCFC trail Tigres UANL 1-0. The tournament was postponed before LAFC played the first leg of their quarterfinal matchup with Cruz Azul, and Bob Bradley's side is now slated for a single-leg bout with their Liga MX foe.
