Real Salt Lake made a quick trip south of the border from their preseason camp in San Diego for their second match of 2016 but were unable to find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss Tuesday to Club Tijuana at Estadio Caliente.
Former US youth international Paul Arriola scored the only goal, a 34th-minute strike that the Liga MX club was able to ride to the victory.
It was a first-choice lineup for Real Salt Lake as they prepare for their CONCACAF Champions League knockout-stage opener Feb. 24 against Liga MX club Tigres UANL, with RSL mainstays Nick Rimando, Kyle Beckerman, Javier Morales and Joao Plata, along with new signing Yura Movsisyan, all getting the start.
RSL transition their camp to Tucson, Ariz., where they will next face defending MLS Cup champion Portland Timbers on Feb. 11.
