The Portland Timbers will be without Andres Flores during the MLS is Back Tournament due to personal reasons, a club spokesperson confirmed to MLSsoccer.com.

The midfielder’s father recently passed away, so he travelled to be with his family. Portland open their Group F slate Monday night (10:30 pm ET | FS1, TUDN; TSN in Canada) against the LA Galaxy.

ā€œHe had to go there for personal reasons, to be there and make sure he can spend a little bit of time with his father prior to that, then to deal with the situation after,ā€ Savarese said of Flores. ā€œOur hearts are with him. Our minds and prayers are with him, so right now he’s not with the group.ā€

Flores has logged 41 appearances over the last two seasons, registering one goal and three assists for Portland. The 29-year-old has also earned 65 caps for El Salvador's national team.

Aside from Flores, forward Dairon Asprilla is back in Portland rehabbing a meniscus injury. Felipe Mora is also recovering from a leg injury after starting Portland’s first two games since upon arriving on loan from Liga MX club Pumas UNAM.

ā€œHe hasn’t yet trained fully with us, so that’s one of the players that most likely is getting close to not being available,ā€ Savarese said of Mora. ā€œWe continue to work with him to see if he can make the game."
