The New York Red Bulls secured the services of fast-rising US men's national team defender Tim Parker via a new three-year contract agreement on Tuesday, according to multiple media reports.
News of the deal – an avowed offseason priority for RBNY – was first reported by Goal.com’s Ives Galarcep. ProSoccerUSA subsequently published a detailed report that places Parker’s annual wages in the $700-800,000 range, which would constitute a marked increase on his previous reported salary, and claims that part of them will be paid down via allocation money.
Parker, 25, has been an everyday MLS starter since the summer of his rookie season with the Vancouver Whitecaps, who drafted him in 2015, and helped his hometown Red Bulls win the 2018 Supporters’ Shield after a trade at the start of the season in March.
A sturdy, mobile defender who also poses a set-piece threat at the attacking end of the pitch, he’s logged more than 2,500 minutes of regular-season action in each of the past three campaigns and earned his first USMNT cap over the summer.
