Albert Rusnak's season just keeps getting better and better.
On Wednesday, the Real Salt Lake star scored in Slovakia's 3-0 friendly win over Denmark, his second goal in his 13th international appearance. The opening goal of the game was scored by former NYCFC striker Adam Nemec.
Rusnak's international exploits follow a three-game stretch for RSL in which he has five goals and an assist. He had five goals in his first 23 appearances. Rusnak has helped lead Salt Lake on a three-game winning streak as his side has climbed to fourth place in the Western Conference.
Before he returns to club soccer, Rusnak and Slovakia will next play their first UEFA Nations League match away to Ukraine on September 9. The Nations League games this window are the first of the new competition, meant to offer competitive international games away from tournament play and qualifying for those tournaments.
Denmark didn't send their stars for their game against Slovakia, as many of their players are in a rift with the federation over commercial rights. Denmark's current squad includes six futsal players while the majority of the rest hails from their country's third and fourth tiers of professional soccer.
