The Seattle Sounders have signed first-round 2018 MLS SuperDraft pick Alex Roldan as well as trialist Jordan McCrary to the first-team roster, the team announced on Tuesday.
"We were excited to draft Alex last month and, like his brother, we anticipate him being a positive addition to our club," Seattle GM Garth Lagerwey said in a statement.
The younger brother of fourth-year Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan, Alex – also a midfielder – attended Seattle University, where he started all 82 games over his four years, finishing his collegiate career with 18 goals and 17 assists. He was taken by Seattle with the 22nd overall pick in the draft.
McCrary joins the Sounders after the 24-year-old defender made 19 starts and 27 appearances for Toronto FC II in 2017. He was the 10th overall selection in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, appearing in two US Open Cup matches for the club and one with the Revs' USL affiliate Rochester Rhinos.
"Jordan has shown well during his trial with us throughout preseason and we believe gives us some quality depth at the fullback position," Lagerwey said.
Seattle now have 25 players on the current roster ahead of a preseason friendly at Sacramento Republic FC on Thursday. Then they open play in the CONCACAF Champions League on Feb. 22, and MLS regular season play at home against LAFC on March 4 (5 pm ET | ESPN).
