Former Seattle Sounders right back Kelvin Leerdam is keen to stay in MLS and has held discussions with teams this winter, a source told MLSsoccer.com, though nothing is imminent. He is currently a free agent.
Leerdam spent the last four seasons with Seattle before his contract expired after the 2020 season. While he was born in the Netherlands, he holds a green card, thus would not require an international roster spot if he remains in MLS.
There had been interest from Europe earlier in the winter, but Leerdam's preference is to stay in MLS.
Leerdam, 30, made 91 appearances with the Sounders and was predominantly the club's first choice right back during his entire time in the Pacific Northwest. He made three MLS Cups with Seattle, winning one.
Prior to joining Seattle, he spent the entirety of his career in his native Netherlands, making 113 appearances with Feyenoord and 106 appearances with Vitesse. He is a former Dutch youth international.
