SEPTEMBER 6 UPDATE: San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Jackson Yueill has been added to the USMNT's roster ahead of the Honduras match. Right back Sergino Dest has been diagnosed with a right ankle sprain and will not be available for selection, while midfielder Weston McKennie will not travel to Honduras and is returning to Italy following a violation of team policy.
"Weston will return to Italy and will be unavailable for the match against Honduras due to a violation of team policy,” USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter said in a release. “There are high expectations for those who are a part of the US men’s national team, and in order to be successful it’s important that everyone in the group is accountable."

As the US men's national team chases a spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, head coach Gregg Berhalter has called in 26 players for their first three (of 14 total) Concacaf Octagonal qualifiers.
They'll gather in Nashville before an elongated match window that starts Sept. 2 at El Salvador, continues at home against Canada on Sept. 5 in Nashville and wraps up with a Sept. 8 trip to Honduras.
The roster includes nine MLS players, eight of whom featured in Wednesday night's MLS All-Star Game presented by Target, including a first-time call-up for FC Dallas 18-year-old Ricardo Pepi, whose penalty kick led the MLS All-Stars past the Liga MX All-Stars. Pepi is eligible to represent both the US and Mexico, leading to great intrigue over his international future.
The roster also includes several key players on UEFA Champions League rosters, including MLS academy products Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie, as well as Sergiño Dest and Christian Pulisic.
“We have spent the last two years building the foundation and culture of the team for this moment,” Berhalter said in a release. “World Cup Qualifying is a grueling challenge that demands a complete group effort in order to be successful. We are confident in our ability to respond to the challenges that are presented along the way.”
