Landon Donovan spent most of the last 15 years making Mexico miserable. But that doesn't mean they hate him – quite the opposite, in fact.
Club América's U-20s, in the wake of their shootout victory over the MLS squad in the Chipotle Homegrown Game, showed just how layered Mexico's relationship is with the man their press nicknamed "The Mexicutioner." Rather than scorn the guy who crushed their country's dreams in the 2002 World Cup, the 2007 Gold Cup and multiple times in World Cup qualifying, they lined up to get their picture taken with him (video above).
For these kids, apparently the rivalry ends with the final whistle. They may have hated Donovan the soccer player, but Donovan the retired legend? That's one for the scrapbook.
