Larentowicz signed with Atlanta United as a free agent on Dec. 14, 2016 and quickly won a starting spot as the midfielder made 33 appearances and 30 starts in 2017. In 2018, he made 33 starts and appeared in all 34 regular season matches. The MLS veteran has scored 40 goals and added 22 assists in his career. His 371 career MLS starts ranks him No. 4 in league history among field players, and his 391 career appearances are also the fourth-most in MLS history. Larentowicz has played in at least 23 games each year since the 2006 MLS season. Along with his extensive MLS experience, Larentowicz also carries a tremendous amount of success as his teams have won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (2007), four MLS Eastern Conference Championships (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010) and two MLS Cups (2010 and 2018) and has played in 27 career MLS Cup playoff matches. The West Chester, Pa., product was selected by the New England Revolution in the fourth round of the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft from Brown University. In five years with New England, the midfielder made 111 appearances and led the team to three-straight MLS Cup appearances and earned a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship before moving to the Colorado Rapids in 2009. He won the 2010 MLS Cup title and moved to the Chicago Fire in 2012, where he served as the team’s captain for three seasons.
2019 (Atlanta United): Larentowicz made 27 total appearances in MLS under new head coach Frank de Boer. The midfielder featured in the starting XI on 15 occasions and recorded one assist on the year. He finished the season having played 1,465 minutes, taking 11 shots and committing 27 fouls. On May 12, Larentowicz made his 400th career MLS appearances, becoming just the third field player to reach that milestone. At the conclusion of the season, Larentowicz sits second all-time among MLS field players with 418. MLS Cup Playoffs: Started and played the full 90 minutes in all three playoff matches this year. U.S. Open Cup: Made two appearances, including one start in Atlanta United’s Open Cup run to the title. He started in the first match vs. Charleston Battery, then was a second half substitute in the 2-1 final win vs. Minnesota United. It marked the second time Larentowicz has won the Open Cup. Concacaf Champions League: Appeared in all four CCL matches this year, including making two starts. Campeones Cup: Captained the side to a 3-2 win against Club America to become the first MLS club to lift the Campeones Cup. Larentowicz scored his lone goal of the season in the match, a 30-yard screamer into the top corner that leveled the match at 2-2 in the 59th minute.
2018 (Atlanta United): Larentowicz continued to be a regular presence as the veteran midfielder appeared in all 34 regular season matches, while making 33 starts. He tallied one goal and two assists in his second season with Atlanta United. Larentowicz’s goal game in the match at D.C. United on Sept. 2, while he recorded assists in the victories vs. Columbus (8/19) and vs. LAFC (4/7). Made his 391st regular season appearance on the final day of the season, moving him into fourth place on the all-time MLS Games Played list for a field player. He also ranks fourth in Games Started with 371. The midfielder was named to the MLS Team of the Week once this year. MLS Cup Playoffs: Started the first leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals, helping Atlanta United secure a clean sheet. Following an injury, he returned for the Eastern Conference Championship round against New York Red Bulls and tallied an assist in the First Leg. Larentowicz won his second MLS Cup as he helped lead Atlanta United to a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers to hoist the trophy.
2017 (Atlanta United): A regular in Tata Martino’s squad at defensive midfield or center back, Larentowicz made 33 appearances and 30 starts, scoring one goal and adding one assist in his first season in Atlanta. Scored in 2-0 win against Montreal on Sept. 24 and recorded an assist in 1-1 draw at Portland on May 14. Named to one MLS Team of the Week. Made his 338th career MLS start and 357th MLS appearance against Toronto on Oct. 22, both of which place him at No. 9 in MLS history among field players. MLS Cup Playoffs: Started and played all 120 minutes against Columbus on Oct. 26. US Open Cup: Made one start against Charleston Battery on June 14.
2016 (LA Galaxy): Larentowicz made 23 appearances and 17 starts in his first season with LA Galaxy. He recorded one goal and one assist on the season and was named to the MLS Team of the Week once. PLAYOFFS: Larentowicz played in all three of LA’s playoff matches, logging 86 total minutes.
2015 (Chicago Fire): In 29 matches Larentowicz matched his previous seasons’ goal total (6) in his first season as Chicago’s captain. Five of his goals came from the penalty spot, and one came in the form of a game-winning free kick against Toronto FC (April 4).
2014 (Chicago Fire): Larentowicz started 33 games, marking his fifth consecutive season in which he played in at least 30 matches. He contributed six goals and three assists.
2013 (Chicago Fire): Chicago Fire acquired Larentowicz in a trade with Colorado. He started 31 of the 32 matches in which he appeared while adding two goals and four assists.
2012 (Colorado Rapids): In his final season with Colorado, Larentowicz started in 32 matches and scored three goals. He finished with 14 goals over 96 appearances during his time with the Rapids.
2011 (Colorado Rapids): In his second season with Colorado, Larentowicz set a new single-season career high with seven goals and won the Rapids’ Golden Boot. He started in all 34 matches. PLAYOFFS: He helped lead Colorado back to the playoffs where he started and played the full 90 minutes in all three contests. The Rapids lost to Sporting Kansas City in the conference semifinals.
2010 (Colorado Rapids): After being traded to Colorado, Larentowicz appeared in all 30 games, starting in 29, and tied his single-season career-high with four goals. He recorded his first career brace at FC Dallas on Oct. 9. Larentowicz was named to the 2010 MLS All-Star Team, the first nomination of his career. PLAYOFFS: Colorado won the MLS Cup Final 2-1 over FC Dallas. Larentowicz started and played every minute in all four playoff matches.
2009 (New England Revolution): For the third consecutive season, Larentowicz played and started in 28 league games. He recorded one goal and two assists, each of which was a game-winner. Larentowicz became the 14th player in Revolution history to make 100 regular-season appearances for the club with a start against Toronto on Aug. 1. He was replaced in the 76th minute of the 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake (Aug. 23) after fracturing the radius in his right arm, but did not miss a game because of the injury, instead playing with heavy padding over a wrist-to-elbow cast. Larentowicz made his 100th career regular-season start against Seattle on Sept. 26 and assisted on Joseph’s game-winning goal in the 87th minute of the 2-1 win. His only goal of the season was a playoff-clinching game-winner in a 1-0 win over Columbus (Oct. 25). PLAYOFFS: Larentowicz started in both playoff matches, playing the full 90 minutes in each contest as New England lost to Chicago Fire for the second consecutive year in the conference semifinals. He recorded his first career assist in the playoffs against Chicago on Nov. 11.
2008 (New England Revolution): Larentowicz stated 28 matches for the second consecutive season. His four goals scored set a new single-season high. PLAYOFFS: Larentowicz played and started in both of New England’s playoff matches. The Revolution lost in the conference semifinals to Chicago Fire.
2007 (New England Revolution): The Revolution reached the MLS Cup Final for the third consecutive season, fueled by Larentowicz’s career year in which he started 28 matches while netting three goals and providing four assists. He had a career day against Chicago on May 6, scoring a goal off a corner and later assisting on game-winning goal for his first-career multiple point game. PLAYOFFS: Larentowicz started all four playoff games as New England lost in the finals to Houston Dynamo 2-1.
2006 (New England Revolution): Larentowicz become a key member of the Revs’ starting XI, making 19 starts in 26 appearances in his second season. He made his first career start on June 11 against Chicago Fire and recorded his first career assist in the same game, an extra time game-tying goal from Andy Dorman to set the final score line at 3-3. Larentowicz scored his first career goal, a game-winner, in a 1-0 victory on Aug. 27 against Columbus Crew. PLAYOFFS: Larentowicz played in all four playoff matches and started two. New England made the playoffs after finishing the season in second place and reached the MLS Cup Final for the second consecutive year, only to fall to Houston Dynamo in penalties.
2005 (New England Revolution): Larentowicz was selected in the fourth round of the MLS Supplemental Draft. He made one appearance, his MLS debut, against DC United on May 14, 2005. PLAYOFFS: New England reached the MLS Cup Final, but fell 1-0 to Los Angeles Galaxy. Larentowicz did not make an appearance.
INTERNATIONAL: Larentowicz has made three appearances for the U.S. Men’s National Team and has earned multiple call ups to USMNT camps. He made his U.S. debut on Jan. 22, 2011 against Chile.
COLLEGE: At Brown University, Larentowicz made 66 appearances during his 4 years, scoring seven goals and recording six assists. He led Brown to two Ivy League Championships while earning honors as a Second-Team NSCAA All-American and a four-time All-Ivy League selection.
