D.C. United let a 1-0 lead slip into a 3-1 loss to New York City FC on Thursday, and the club has since learned that they suffered another casualty from that midweek trip to Yankee Stadium.
United announced via Twitter on Monday morning that their veteran defender Chris Korb suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during that match, an injury that the Washington Post's Steven Goff reports will rule the fullback out for the remainder of the 2015 season.
Korb, 27, has been one of United's more reliable defenders since joining the capital club as a second-round SuperDraft pick in 2011. The University of Akron product has made 18 appearances this season (17 starts), notching two assists in 1,446 minutes, and has 105 career regular-season appearances to his name.
D.C. currently sit in first place in the Eastern Conference on points and also top the Supporters' Shield race, though the New York Red Bulls and Sporting Kansas City own higher points-per-game averages.
