Concacaf Champions League Clubs begin training Monday, all MLS clubs permitted to open camp Sunday
NEW YORK (January 10, 2022) – All 28 Major League Soccer teams are permitted to resume team training this week as preparations begin for the 2022 MLS season. Major League Soccer’s 27th season, which kicks off on February 26, will see the debut of expansion club Charlotte FC, as well as the opening of Nashville SC stadium.
The five MLS teams that qualified for the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League may open preseason as early as Monday, while the remaining 23 teams may open camp on Sunday, January 16.
Prior to participating in any team activities, all players and Tier 1 and 2 staff members must successfully complete approved molecular testing for COVID-19 and participate in mandatory entrance exams.
While there is no limit to the number of players that a club may have on its roster during preseason, all teams must be roster compliant by Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
